How to get to Puerto Río Tranquilo?
You can take a flight from Santiago or Puerto Montt to Balmaceda, the airport near Coyhaique.
From Coyhaique or Balmaceda, the rest of the trip is by land only, along the Carretera Austral, a scenic road filled with wonderful landscapes.
- From Coyhaique: 218 km, approximately 4.5 hours of travel.
- From Balmaceda: approximately 4 hours of travel to Puerto Río Tranquilo

By private vehicle:
You can rent a car at the Balmaceda airport or in the city of Coyhaique, enjoying the scenery and being free to stop at points of interest.

By intercity bus:
Buses depart once a day, usually in the morning, with limited schedules, so advance booking is recommended.

Can I get to the pier at Exploradores Bay in my own vehicle?
The journey from Puerto Río Tranquilo to Bahía Exploradores (boarding area) is approximately 90 km on a gravel road, which is equivalent to a trip of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
- By vehicle: You can drive to the pier following the indicated route.
- With transportation included: You can also opt for our shuttle service for added convenience.
